Shocked Sure, I always cut away my lines in flight whenever there is a tangle. I'll deal with the collapse, lack of directional control and crash afterwards. After all, I carry a full set of lines with me everywhere I go.
Seriously, cutting a brake line will not solve your problem, but will create others. In this case looks like there are C-lines tangled as well. Face the problem in the air once you have missed on take off. Evaluate the problem and conditions of the air and judge whether you can continue to fly. In this case the pilot made the right decision to go and land in the nearest field. If you can't stay in the air safely under the prevailing conditions, your reserve is another option.
