Is this where I should be posting in the forum? It looks like no one is using the English specific section.
I will be in Tel Aviv for 2 weeks starting May 15 2009 and was hoping to get some flying in. I have put up some posts on Facebook, Couchsurfing and a few other websites and haven't received any replies yet.
I was hoping someone would be able to fill me in on normal flying conditions during this time of year. Is it consistent? Which sites are used? Are there any local pilots that would be willing to give me a tour rides to launch etc... The full rundown.
I am an Advanced Rated Pilot (P4) with a Tandem rating from Hawaii. I will probably be bringing my old NOVA Mambo or Ozone Mantra with me for the trip. Tandem is not worth the hassle for such a short trip.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Claude Phillips
Hi scrappy
the weather conditions for the time of your arrival should be pretty good, and you will be able to fly at the ridge or at the mountains up in the north of Israel,
all the thermal sites are 1 hour driving from Tel Aviv and the ridge is about 15-20 minutes drive
Please place here a note on the week of your arrival and we will contact you if anyone go to fly on that dates , as well I will send you a private massige with my phone number so you can contact me when you arrive
as well, you can read our posts in Hebrew, using the google translator - use this link
http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=iw&js=n&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.holywind.net%2Fsmf_new%2Findex.php%3Fboard%3D1.0&sl=iw&tl=en
you will be able to read most of the posts and get basic understanding of what we are planing, I know it's not perfect but its better then nothing, just bear in mind that Hebrew lang is different from English' we speak the opposite from English, and sometimes the verbs are on the opposite side in the sentences
take care
