Steve Nash and NOVA Ibex do it again!
X-Lakes 2008 paragliding / hiking event (Lake District, UK)
On July 5th and 6th, NOVA team pilot Steve Nash won the X-Lakes 2008. This event is an adventure race where the competitors aim to hike / run or fly around a triangular course. The race started from Keswick at 06:15 on the Saturday morning, with the competitors having 35 hours to complete the course; which comprised of 3 turnpoints on top of Scafell Pike (Englands highest peak, 977m), Helvellyn (950m) and Skiddaw (931m). Steve Nash, who also won this year’s X-Scotia, a similar event, and his NOVA Ibex 15 won the event in a time of 10 hours 58 minutes. Steve narrowly beat Roger Fowkes into second place by less than 2 minutes! The total distance that Steve ran or walked was 65km, with only 2.5 km flown due to high wind speeds! Steve says: “The extended flyable wind range of the Ibex allowed me to fly when normal paragliders stayed in their bags. Combined with its light weight and low volume this wing really is the perfect adventure racing-paraglider.”
With best regards,
