IMHO: Towing start is good for individual XC flights but bad for competitions.
Why?
- For some reasons:
Each tow cycle take significant time (tens minutes minimum). So your position in start queue significantly affects to your result.
That's impossible to set race task with air start because in windy day it's very difficult to stay in the air and wait for start window open.
Group flights is also problematic, and so problem to learn from more experienced pilots.
We still have unexplored XC potential of our usual flight places. Hope next year we'll make some original and interesting tasks.
Most of our competitors has no towing experience.
Anyway thank for the idea. You are and everybody are wellcome to bring new ideas how to make our competitions more interesting.
